Custom Dovetail Spice Boxes

This unit can be used as either a Spice or Can Box (rack) and is designed to be hung on a door or used as an upright rollout.

• Recommended depths are as follows:
  • Spice Box: 3-3/4”
  • Can Box: 5-3/4”
  • Custom depths can be requested, but a fraction of 3/4” is recommended for proper dovetail layout.
• The bottom thickness is 1/2” (rabbeted into the sides and flush with the back edge).
• Adjustable shelves are used to divide the unit into horizontal sections as follows:
  • same material and thickness as the box sides
  • Two rows of 3mm diameter holes are drilled on each inside side of the box to hold shelf pins. (See adjustable divider hole drilling for further information.)
  • shelves are grooved to rest on 4 metal pins, which are included
  • adjustable according to customer’s preference
  • If the unit height is over 40”, a fixed center shelf/shelves will be installed
  • top front of each shelf, top front of the bottom, and inside front of sides are routed to accept 1/8” thick x 2″ high Plexiglas front rails, which extend the full width of the box and lock each divider in place

• The design allows for access from both sides of the unit.  Each shelf runs through the unit and has a Plexiglas front rail on each side.
• Adjustable shelves are used to divide the spice box into horizontal sections.
• The shelves are constructed as follows:

  • uniquely slotted to rest on 4 metal pins, which are included

  • both top edges of each shelf, both top edges of the bottom, and the inside edges of the sides are routed to accept 1/8” thick x 2″ high Plexiglas rails, which extend the full width of the box and lock each divider in place
